Meet The Team

Johlan grew up in South Africa, at the age of 18 he decided to pursue a career in the yachting industry where he fell in love with the ocean, aquatic adventures and exploring islands. As a captain of a charter boat his main focus is the guest satisfaction and sharing experiences and adventures that they will partake in whether it’s water sports such as cliff jumping, snorkeling and/or memorable sunset picnics.

Before working on Onyx, Johlan was a captain on a charter boat in the Mediterranean Sea where he would take guests to hidden gems where the waters are crystal blue and the aquatic life is in abundance – the perfect snorkeling conditions where guests could enjoy quality time with friends and family.

Johlan also has a vast variety of experience in the maritime industry ranging from expert maintenance skills gained through working on the dry docks prepping yachts for their charter seasons and conducting inboard and outboard engine maintenance as a tender technician to being a docking assistant in a reputable marina. Guests can be assured to be in good hands with Johlan at the helm.
