What services does Virgin Islands Boating (VIB) offer?

We provide a premier water taxi service between the USVI and BVI, as well as fully customizable day charters. Our services are flexible and can be tailored to your needs.

How does the water taxi service differ from the regular ferries?

Unlike regular ferry services, we offer a personalized, comfortable, and hassle-free experience. Our service runs on your schedule, not a preset timetable, and provides direct connections between the USVI and BVI, skipping the typical frustrating over-crowded lines.

Where do you clear customs?

It generally depends on where you are going. We typically use the following customs offices: USVI: St John, Cruz Bay or St Thomas/Red Hook BVI: Tortola, West End or Jost Van Dyke, Great Harbour

How long does the water-taxi trip take?

Of course times vary, but a typical trip from USVI, Red Hook generally takes:

To Tortola, West End: 20 – 30min
To Virgin Gorda, North Sound: 1:45hr – 2hr

* Time estimates above do not include clearing through the customs office which can vary but typically take 20 – 30min.

What type of boat do you use for your services?

We are proud to offer services aboard our flagship vessel, ONYX, a state-of-the-art 2024 Axopar 37XC. Where power meets luxury. Known for its excellent performance, safety, and comfort, this boat provides a luxurious setting for your journey.

What features does the Axopar 37XC offer for my comfort?

The Axopar 37XC offers luxurious seating both outside and inside a fully enclosed and air-conditioned cabin, a bathroom and ample dry storage space for all of your belongings.

What is the capacity of your water taxi?

The Axopar 37XC can comfortably accommodate up to 11 passengers, providing ample space for you and your group to enjoy your journey across the Virgin Islands.

How does Virgin Islands Boating ensure safety during the journey?

Your safety is our top priority. The Axopar 37XC, with its award-winning hull design, ensures unmatched stability and safety. Even in rough, choppy waters, the vessel is best in class and maintains a smooth ride. Our captains are fully trained and certified.

How can I book a service with Virgin Islands Boating?

You can reserve the boat directly on the website or you can email or call us.

Do I need to book in advance?

Since our time slots are first come first served, we recommend booking in advance to lock in your preferred travel date and time. However, we understand that plans can change and last minute needs arise. We will do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings based on availability.

What should I bring on my trip?

We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses for sun protection. You may also want to bring your camera to capture the beautiful views of the Virgin Islands, and any personal items you may need. We provide ample dry storage for your belongings.

Can I bring my pet on board?

While we love pets, for the safety and comfort of all passengers, pets are only allowed on board in special circumstances. Please contact us to discuss any specific needs.

What if the weather is bad on the day of my trip?

Safety is our top priority and we will never operate in severe or unsafe weather conditions.

With that said, a bit of rain and wind is not a problem at all. Our water taxi service runs regardless of moderate weather conditions because we have a fully enclosed and air-conditioned cabin and plenty of dry storage for your belongings.

For day charters, if the weather is bad, we will work with you. You can choose to continue your trip, reschedule depending on availability or we will provide you a full refund.

Can I choose my own itinerary for the day charter service?

Absolutely! Our day charter service is designed for you to create your own itinerary. Let us know what you want to do and we will work hard to make it happen and create the perfect Virgin Islands adventure.

Do you provide drinks and food on board?

We provide water, soft drinks, beer and wine on board. We do not provide food or snacks. You are welcome to bring your own food, snacks and drinks with you.

Is gratuity included?

Gratuity is not included, but is greatly appreciated if you feel our service was exceptional. Remember, for any additional questions or concerns, you can always contact us. We’re here to help!
